Creator FAQ

Everything you need to know if you want to sell your beats and melodies through Lowcut Labs. Can't find your question? Just write us.

Selling is currently only possible from Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Payouts run through Stripe Connect and our agency agreement is built around German law. That's why we can only onboard producers who live in Germany, Austria or Switzerland right now. We're working on opening this up – buying from us already works from any country.

How do I get started?

You apply with a demo beat through our application form. We listen and reply by email. If it's a fit, you get access to your producer dashboard and can upload, price and manage your beats and melodies yourself.

1
What does it cost me?

Nothing. No monthly fee, no upload fee, no subscription. We only earn when you sell.

2
How much do I get per sale?

You get 85% of the sale price. We keep the remaining 15% for hosting, payments, marketing and reach. After every sale we automatically put a commission invoice PDF in your dashboard – you don't pay anything extra, the share was already withheld at checkout.

3
When do I get paid?

Your share is transferred to your Stripe account automatically after the sale, usually within a few minutes. From there Stripe pays out to your bank on its own schedule – typically 2 to 7 business days. On a brand-new Stripe account the first payout can take up to 14 days. We can't control that delay.

4
Do I need a Stripe account?

Yes. For sales and payouts you set up a Stripe Express account in the dashboard. It takes a few minutes. Your bank and ID details go straight to Stripe – we only see whether payouts are enabled.

5
Who is the buyer's contract partner – you or me?

You. The purchase contract is between you and the buyer. We are only the marketplace and technical service. We issue the buyer's invoice automatically in your name so you don't have to.

6
Do I have to sell my beats exclusively?

Beats on Lowcut Labs are always sold as an exclusive license. After the sale the beat leaves the shop and must not be sold or licensed again. For melodies you can choose exclusive, limited or unlimited – limited and unlimited can be sold more than once on purpose.

7
What about taxes and registering a business?

You tax your own income. During onboarding you tell us whether you are a small business under German VAT law (§ 19 UStG) or regular VAT – that controls what appears on the buyer's invoice. We cannot and must not give tax advice.

8
What about GEMA?

If you are a GEMA member, you register your works yourself under your membership number. Add your GEMA/IPI details in your profile and we put them into the license documents the buyer receives.

9
What currency is used?

Everything runs in euro – prices, sales and payouts. Buyers from other countries also pay in euro; any conversion is handled by their bank.

10
What happens if the quality isn't right?

We spot-check uploads for audio quality and correct metadata. Small issues get a warning with a deadline to fix them. Repeated problems can restrict uploads. Serious cases – copyright issues or false rights claims – end the collaboration immediately.

11
Can I leave whenever I want?

Yes. You can terminate in text form with 14 days' notice to the end of the month. Licenses already sold stay valid for the buyers, and open payouts are settled as usual.
